Do what you can, with what you have, where you are

Nelson Mandela Day 2022 centered around the tagline, “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are” by focusing on three subthemes: supporting fruit and indigenous tree planting, promoting community and home-based gardens, and creating awareness of the intersections between food security and climate change.

Through partnering with Nelson Mandela University, a number of activities took place throughout the month across the Eastern Cape province, facilitated through Transect Walk Dialogues (TWDs). The walk through a community, led by the community, ends in a conversation among those present, guided by specific questions linked to a subtheme.
